The Gene Expression Profile Analysis Suite is one of the most complete integrated packages of tools for microarray data analysis available over the web. GEPAS constitutes a maintained effort to offer a platform for gene expression data analysis to the scientific community, which has uninterruptedly been running since 2001. During its life, GEPAS has evolved to keep pace with the new interests and trends in the ever changing world of microarray data analysis.
GEPAS has been designed to provide an intuitive although powerful web-based interface that offers diverse analysis options from the early step of preprocessing (normalization of Affymetrix and two-color microarray experiments and other preprocessing options), to the final step of the functional profiling of the experiment (using Gene Ontology, pathways, PubMed abstracts etc.), which include different possibilities for clustering, gene selection, class prediction and array-comparative genomic hybridization management.
GEPAS, which stands for "Gene Expression Pattern Analysis Suite", was born as a natural response to the requirements of data analysis of many experimental researches working on gene expression using DNA microarrays. GEPAS does not intend to be a collection of as-many-methods-as-possible, but an integrated tool able to provide a simple, easy though rigorous solution to most basic (and some complex) scientific questions that can arise during the step of microarray data analysis. Contrarily to other tools, GEPAS has "grown up" in close contact with experimental researchers and has used their feedback to continuously improve as new scientific questions were arising. GEPAS is committed to evolve as new scientific questions in relation to the use of gene expression data analysis emerge.
