Name: CA1 stratum pyramidale
Description: Part of pyramidal cell layer lying in area CA1, superficial to the CA1 stratum oriens, and deep to the stratum radiatum of CA1, continuous with the pyramidal cell layers of CA2 and the subiculum. It is characterized by pyramidal cell bodies that are generally smaller in size than those in the other hippocampal sectors.
