Name: Glial Cytoplasmic Inclusion
Definition: A glial cytoplasmic inclusion is a pathological hallmark of multiple system atrophy. GCIs are non-membrane-bound cytoplasmic inclusions composed of 10-40 nm granule-coated fibrils. These inclusions have an abnormal accumulation of alpha-synuclein protein.
