| Description: | The Alzheimer's & Dementia Resource Center (ADRC) is the go-to source for caregivers in Central Florida. For nearly three decades, our team of professionals has provided thousands of caregivers with the educational resources, spiritual comfort and emotional support they need to care for their loved ones and – equally important – themselves. Holding your hand through the process – literally and figuratively – our team provides a nurturing, family-centric environment where you can learn about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia-related illnesses, share your experiences as a caregiver, hear from others in the same situation and seek trusted advice from our care management advisors.
In addition to offering support to those caring for loved ones, the ADRC facilitates training for professional caregivers that meets requirements for the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. In order to help find better treatments, more diagnostic tools and – ultimately – a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, ADRC facilitates tissue donations for the Brain Bank Research Program. We coordinate donations for 20 counties in Florida and are one of two agencies in the state to offer this valuable service to help advance scientific research. The Brain Bank Program is administered by Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach and under contract with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. Pre-registration is required. To learn more about the program, please contact Martha Purdy, Brain Bank Program Specialist at 407-843-1910, ext. 308. |
