Description:	Research the cause, treatment and prevention of Alzheimer's disease with a focus on four main areas of research: risk factors for Alzheimer's and related disorders, the neurological basis of the disease, diagnosis and treatment. The Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center is one of 29 Alzheimer's disease research centers across the country designated and funded by the National Institute on Aging. The RADC has two main categories of resources available to investigators. These categories include Data and Specimen. The sub categories of available data and specimens are as follows: Data: A number of computed variables are available for ROS, MAP and MARS cohorts. These include variables under the following categories: Affect and Personality, Chronic Medical Conditions, Clinical diagnosis, Cognitive, Demographics, Disabilities, Genetics, Life style, Medications, Pathology, Stroke, Vascular, and Neuroimaging (Ante-mortem and Post-mortem) Specimen: Several types of data are also available from ante-mortem and post-mortem specimens obtained from subjects evaluated by ROS, MAP and Clinical study cores. Specimen categories include: Brain tissue (Fixed and frozen), Spinal cord, Muscles (Post-mortem), Nerve (Post-mortem), DNA, Cryo preserved Lymphocytes, Serum, plasma, and urine A primary goal of the RADC is to make its data available to collaborative investigators for timely and efficient use in an open but secure environment. Limited data sets are shared within the Rush community, with researchers outside of Rush, and with the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center (NACC: NIH/NIA U01 AG016976). All data sharing policies and procedures also apply to obtaining ante-mortem and post-mortem specimens from participants evaluated by the selected cohorts of the RADC. There are additional stipulations with regard to these specimens because many of the specimens were accrued over many years at great expense to the NIA and are not easily replicable. If you are interested in using data or specimen from the RADC, we request that you carefully review the Data and Resource Sharing Policy as well as the Data and Biologic Material Transfer Agreements before submitting a data or a specimen request.
