Description:	Founded in 1986 The Wien Center for Alzheimer's Disease and Memory Disorders, a joint program between Mount Sinai Medical Center and the University of Miami Department of Psychiatry, seeks an end to Alzheimer's disease and similar disorders through research, diagnosis, education and treatment. The center has earned numerous prestigious grants in the past, including a grant from the National Institutes of Health to conduct cutting edge research on this crippling disease. With this grant, the center became Florida's first ever Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC), joining 31 other ADRC's across the nation. While The Wien Center for Alzheimer's Disease and Memory Disorders has been at the forefront of dramatic advances in Alzheimer's research and treatment for the last 10 years, there's still much to learn and investigate. Research is the key to unlocking the debilitating disease. The Wien Center conducts massive, multidiscipline initiatives utilizing clinical trials, putting Mount Sinai on the frontlines against the age-related disease. The goals are to improve memory and mental responsiveness of Alzheimer's patients, delay the onset of the disease and ultimately find a cure. Similarly raising awareness, educating the community on healthy aging and preservation of brain function have been important goals for the center.
