Resource:WormBase

Name: Resource:WormBase
Description: WormBase is a central data repository for nematode biology. It includes the complete genomic sequence, gene predictions and orthology assignments from a range of related nematodes. This comparative data enrich the C. elegans data with improved gene predictions and a better understanding of gene function.

Derived from the initial ACeDB database of C. elegans genetic and sequence information, WormBase now includes the genomic, anatomical and functional information about C. elegans, other Caenorhabditis species and other nematodes.

Founded in 2000, the WormBase Consortium is led by Paul Sternberg of CalTech, Richard Durbin of the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Lincoln Stein of Cold Spring Harbor, and John Spieth of the Washington University Genome Sequencing Center. In addition to their curation work, all sites have ongoing programs in bioinformatics research to develop the next generations of WormBase structure, content and accessibility.

Submit your data to WormBase and ensure its long-term availability as well as place it within a rich, highly cross-referenced context.

WormBase maintains a public FTP site where you can find many commonly requested files and datasets, the WormBase software and prepackaged databases.
